Toyota and BMW teamed

Toyota and BMW announced the start of joint development of next-generation lithium-ion batteries for use in hybrid and fully electric cars.
Company signed a memorandum of understanding in December and, in fact, already then began joint research. Some time ago, BMW was the donor of their diesel engines for vehicles Toyota, which come on the market in Australia. And now due to enter a formal agreement under which, in exchange for their diesel (it is the engines of 1.6 and 2.0 liters) for European models of Toyota, the German company will have access to technology in the field of electric mobility, in which Toyota advanced significantly. The first fruits of the alliance, we will see in 2014.
Both companies have solid experience in promising technologies and practical experience in their implementation. Partners include Toyota's research elektromobilnosti and producing hybrids – American Tesla, in alliance with which Canada is going to crossover RAV4 EV. Assets BMW – developments in the field of hydrogen power plants and the results of cooperation with PSA Peugeot-Citroen to create components for hybrid and electric vehicles.
