Chrysler Company in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy began work to create Multi engine, capable of operating on different fuels: gasoline, E85 ethanol, diesel.
At the moment there is a prototype Multi 4-cylinder turbo engine, whose volume is 2.4 liters. This model has already been installed on the minivan Chrysler Town & Country and is now being tested. As said by the developers, the new engine when compared to the previous engine V6, installed on the same machine model is 25% more economical and urban, and suburban mode machine running. So with the new motor vehicle will consume every 100 kilometers okolo7, 5 liters of fuel.
A project to create Multi engine originally conceived to reduce fuel consumption, increase efficiency of cars and at the same time in order not to harm the environment. In the created new engine turbocharger used, electrohydraulic system regulating working Valve MultiAir, the principle of recirculating exhaust, a new ignition system and fuel innovative principle of three kinds.
Above the new motor Concern Chrysler continues to work with organizations such as Argonne National Laboratory, the company Delphi, The Ohio State University. Purpose automaker – to reduce fuel consumption to a minimum the new motor.
